Artist Michael Mouris and I ventured ALL THE WAY up to Valencia on a Sunday afternoon to view the work of current MFA candidates in the School of Art, and most importantly, to hang with cool-kid supreme Lam Vuong, who is finishing up his first year in the Photo/Media Department, also happens to be from Miami, and a friend of influential author Elizabeth Tracy. Let me tell you:
THE WORK WAS GOOD, REALLY GOOD.
I wanted to take a lot of it home with me, but mostly, "appropriate" it. There was a lot of discussion-worthy work, and something new(ish) to me was that is was the return of craft! Well-made stuff; it seems like a good time to be a CalArtian, I am proud.
Congratulations guys!
I am so glad you like Nate's work and I am even happier to be considered influential. Big time!
